Salutations to a few good men

'All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing'
Edmund Burke

I came across this quote a few weeks back whilst watching a Tv series 'Cold Case'.Perhaps it was the moving storyline of lives ruined, the appropriateness of the quote in its entirety to the events that unraveled on my screen or simply the lucidity of its content, i became engulfed by soberness.

Since the words of Mr Burke now resides in me,speaking to me ever so often that if i close my eyes, turn a blind eye, look the other way....things can go wrong and so it has in the past when you and i hid in the background and thought 'its not my business'. I sat back and reflected over these occasions and wondered what if! Then i began to evaluate recent political happening in my milieu and was prompted to extol the actions of a few good men, working hard to triumph in a sea of evil

Descent of the heart

Ah! It is sunrise
I rise and commence my journey of futility
I am here,i seat,i stare
Still my purpose eludes me
As it did yesterday

Oh! It is sunset
I set off and arrive to emptiness
I am here,i sleep,i wake
Still my today is as cruel
As it was yesterday

Above is the reality of a man who lost 2 grandchildren to the Japanese tsunami disaster of 2011.The tragic event wiped out the school that the kids attended 'Ishinomaki Okawa Elementary'. Amidst the bulldozers and rubble's you'll find him seated and staring into oblivion.

My birthday is here and my present is not here as yet.Humm, well i thank God for his mercies and grace, for i am certain of this one thing: @ the appointed time,it shall come.Delay is not denial. I know it was suppose to have arrived just before my birthday, but then we're all only humans and open to errors and fallacies. Proverb 16:1 says 'to man belongs the plans of the heart, but the from the lord comes the reply of the tongue' I shall wait and still waiting........

Trip to National Museum,Onikan

I took the most interesting trip by myself last Wednesday. On a whim i stopped by National Museum in Onikan,Lagos State.Boy! was i not glad i did. The experience was priceless. It was like i could touch history and for a few seconds, i stepped into a bygone era.
I love history, i love culture. so maybe that's why it was so much fun...Fun in the context of mentally stimulating and visually pleasing. I saw artefact's from all over Nigeria. Items from the West standing side by side that from the North and South. It sort of made it easy to compare and contrast aspect of our cultures.I was particularly in awe of the life sized model of 3 kings representing Oba's from North,South and West.I did find the life sized masquerades rather frighting.......For lovers of the art, there's a lot to see like potteries, wood works, iron works, beaded items, warfare tools etc.
I was told a tale by my guide which i found quite fascinating. It's the story of Ogedemgbe of Ijesa.History has it that he was a feared warrior and chief from Ilesa now in present day Osun state. After his death his family reported constantly hearing strange sounds from his war garment and decided to either burn the outfit or give it out to anyone willing to take it off their hands. That was how the outfit journeyed to National Museum.Besides the outfit is a picture of the late warrior with some family members.
For those with no interest whatsoever in physical history,i can guarantee you that there is one item on display you would most certainly be interested in!...what is it??...the bullet ridden Mercedes Benz car in which the late head of state of Nigeria, General Murtala Mohammed was assassinated in. Still very much there for all to see.I must say it's very executive looking.I did hear that the driver of the late head of state, who was the only survivor of the incident, now a very old man.still comes to visit and view the car from time to time.........awwwww
